#1. ChatGPT accessible again in Italy
Access to the ChatGPT chatbot has been restored in Italy. It was banned by the Italian data-protection authority at the start of April over privacy concerns.
It maker, OpenAI, which is backed by Microsoft, said it had successfully « addressed or clarified » the issues raised. It said its privacy policy was now accessible to people before they registered for ChatGPT and there was a new tool to verify the age of users.

#2. Twitter to let publishers charge users per article read, says Elon Musk
Twitter CEO Elon Musk said on Saturday that the social media platform will allow media publishers to charge users on a per-article basis with one click, calling it a win for both the public and media organisations.
The feature, to be rolled out in May, will enable users who do not “sign up for a monthly subscription to pay a higher per article price for when they want to read an occasional article”, billionaire owner Musk tweeted.

Geoffrey Hinton, who has been called the ‘Godfather of AI,’ confirmed Monday that he left his role at Google last week to speak out about the “dangers” of the technology he helped to develop.
Hinton’s pioneering work on neural networks shaped artificial intelligence systems powering many of today’s products. He worked part-time at Google for a decade on the tech giant’s AI development efforts, but he has since come to have concerns about the technology and his role in advancing it.
