TikTok will soon allow you to reset your feed “for you”

Have you ever been caught up in a trend you can’t stand? Or even took the time to click on a video, and then hit the “not interested” button – only to have TikTok continue pushing those videos?

TikTok reset feed for you

For reasons I can’t explain, I had videos of the Colombian police on patrol on my feed. I may have skipped, clicked on “not interested”, or something of the sort. But it didn’t change anything, and over the next two weeks I saw the same type of  videos! 😅

TikTok has created a new feature to refresh your feed, “for you.”

TikTok has faced a lot of criticism from the app’s users about the repetitiveness of the content. To address this, the platform has enabled users to refresh their “For You” feed, offering a fresh start to discover new content.

At first, you may come across videos that don’t interest you, but that’s normal. The app feeds and refines its algorithm the more you use it. So the more you use the application, the more videos you’ll see that you like!

Don’t worry about your subscription feed, that remains unchanged. This feature only concerns the “For you” feed.

How to reste your feed “For you” on TikTok

To reset your “For You” feed on TikTok, follow these steps

  • Click on your profile
  • Press the three little dashes at the top right of your screen
  • Select “Settings and Privacy”
  • Click on “Content Preferences”
  • Finally, select “Refresh Your News Feed.”

And that’s it, you’ve reset your feed! It’s just like downloading the app for the first time. If you don’t have access to this feature, don’t worry! It’s being rolled out as we speak.

TikTok has the same issues as YouTube.

The algorithm:

A few years ago, YouTube launched its new algorithm, and like TikTok, it locks you into a loop: videos from your favorite content creators now appear directly on the home page. You don’t even have to go to your subscription tab anymore. Some YouTubers have even admitted that the majority of their views come from the homepage. At first, this is not noticeable, but after a while, you get bored and can’t discover new creators. In response, YouTube has created a feature to change its homepage, which takes the place of a video.

Compensation:

Another issue that should soon arrive on TikTok is product placement. The video platform pays out large sums to a lot of creators. Every platform has its golden age, but the remuneration systems it sets up are not sustainable in the long term. YouTube has gone through this, amplified by the regulations that lead to demonetization (DMCA, language…). Twitch is the latest platform to have increased its commission at the expense of streamers.

The content creators have since resorted to product placement to compensate for the decrease in revenue.
