collectID unlocks exclusive content for Nashville Predators Pekka Rinne retirement jersey

St. Gallen, SWITZERLAND – March 17, 2022 – collectID, a company that enables brands to turn their product into a communication channel to share content with their fans, has worked together with the US NHL (National Hockey League) team Nashville Predators on the launch of the limited edition jersey that marks the retirement of Pekka Rinne.

Pekka Rinne is a Nashville Predators franchise icon who announced his retirement in 2021 following a decorated 15-year, 683-game career with the Predators and led the team to their Stanley Cup Final in 2017.

Five hundred limited edition jerseys commemorating the night Pekka Rinne’s number was retired were released on 24th February. It was the first time in history that the franchise has honored a player with a retired jersey.

Each jersey contains a collectID NFC tag allowing fans to register the ownership of the jersey to unlock exclusive content from Pekka’s career and get further updates from the franchise.

In addition, the history of the jersey, including a video of Pekka Rinne’s number retirement ceremony, is stored immutably on the blockchain, making the jersey even more unique and valuable.

David Geisser, Co-founder of collectID commented on the partnership, “It was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with the Nashville Predators to make this last jersey of Pekka Rinne so special. The jersey becomes much more than a physical product. It’s becoming a living jersey because collectID allows the Predators to add new features, content, or vouchers to the jersey. Bringing the jersey alive and using it as a tool to give something back to the fans, has been one of our founding objectives at collectID. The feedback the team has had about Pekke Rinne’s retirement jersey has been so positive, it has really spurred us on to find new and innovative ways to connect sport legends to their followers”.

Dave Urso, Senior Vice President of Operations for the Nashville Predators and Bridgestone Arena added, “We are excited to partner with CollectID on this jersey project. Adding this technology to the Pekka Rinne retirement jersey offers us the ability to communicate directly with our fans in a very targeted fashion while delivering exclusive content to them. We look forward to future integrations with CollectID, again offering exclusive opportunities for our fans that they can not get anywhere else.”
